Re: Are you a good passenger?
 I get yelled at all the time for being a backseat driver.
If I feel comfortable in the car, then I'm not too bad. 'Shoot for the moon and if you miss you will still be among the stars' - Les Brown 'No one can make you feel inferior without your consent' - Eleanor Roosevelt |

Re: Are you a good passenger?
No, I get freaked out with whoever is driving the car. Although, I always make sure I'm in the back seat so that I'm not watching what's happening on the road in front of me. I try not to look out of the window at all.

Re: Are you a good passenger?
Thats funny SeaShell because I am also a very bad passenger and prefer to drive myself but hate sitting in the back even more because I feel so out of control. If im in the front I feel like I can do something about even though that would be even more dangerous.

Re: Are you a good passenger?
For me it's almost a case of, what I can't see, I can't get freaked out about. If I can't see how the person is driving, then I don't get as nervous.

Re: Are you a good passenger?
Yeah I can understand where you are coming from on that. Thats why I find it strange that I have to be in the front but even so it still scares me to travel like this. I have to be in control and driving myself. Now I live in Moscow and would never attempt to drive as its so crazy much like where you live I expect but this means I take taxis sometimes which is a horrible experience.

Re: Are you a good passenger?
I'm a very bad passenger and I'd rather drive myself (as much as possible). Whenever I'm in control, I'm okay and feel perfectly relaxed.
It's so embarrassing, because I've got to come up with excuses every time someone offers me a ride in their car! Or going to the zoo with my family, I can't ride in the little train (because I won't be driving!)... in spite of my daughter's insistence. My wife would sometimes make excuses on my behalf... I'm sure she's quite annoyed by this as well. I'm 45 and I spent the last 20 years of my life with this phobia. Enough is enough! This is actually the specific reason why I joined this forum; I'm hoping to find tools to deal with this embarrassing problem. I actually started the other thread titled "AMAXOPHOBIA: fear of riding in a car - who else has it? " I wish I could find other people in my area sharing the same problem; we could help one another by taking turns driving and sitting as a passenger in each others' cars. Anyone from Toronto (Ontario) area? You can PM me if you wish. |

Re: Are you a good passenger?
As a child, I always suffered from travel sickness, so I was the spoilt one and allowed to sit in the front!!Which helped a bit with the travel sickness, at 18, I learnt to drive and shortly after got my own car, which I loved, and driving myself cured the travel sickness!
So no I,m not a good passenger!But I'm an EXELLENT driver!!!!(I wish!!) ;] sdrool |
