Bridges
Does anyone have problems walking over bridges? Maybe it's because of the height factor? Maybe because it crosses over water? Let us know about your experiences and stories here regarding situations you have been in.

Re: Bridges
I was trying to find a page before i registered with regards to the fear of being under tall buildings, the open sky, fields and bridges. I couldn't find it then I found this. On the other page I was reading the other posts on the page and was so surprised. I really thought I was the only person with this problem. For me I break out into a cold sweat and feel as though the ground has dropped out from under me and that something was hammering at me from above or that I was having a spasm of some sort in my brain if that's even possible. This all ends in a deeply embarrassing panic attack with me crouched on the pavement muttering calming things to myself with people around me wondering just how crazy I am. I used to use an umbrella whilst under tall buildings. Surviving the 1989 San Francisco earthquake for me was nothing compared to this fear.
I have discussed this with psychiatrists and found from the tests that it was not an inner ear problem. I am uncertain about the possibility of it having to do with Field of vision. I was supposed to go for an EEG or a Catscan decades ago but I had a breakdown and lost time for three months so also lost my shrink. This was in 88/89. Now desperately trying to see a new shrink but he and his red tape seem to be shelving me for the moment. I was really hoping , as he suggested again, to be tested and find out what this is. With other psychological problems being triggered by this or that and trying to make a move to the USA in November to a Big City I am worried. I am a city girl and sadly unable to cope with tall buildings. I tried the country but I was shut in by my agoraphobia and fear of people judging me-also there is nothing for me here as a subcultural artist. |
