Choking etc..
For those with a choking/swallowing phobia I just want to say from experience PLEASE don't go it alone, keeping it a secret and praying for a miracle. Go see a professional, a psychiatrist and a counselor. From the psychicatrist you'll get the right combo of meds to help the symptoms and from the counselor, therapy. You can't will it, ignore it or pray it away which is what I did to no avail. I went to counselors but without seeing a psychiatrist as well for the right meds I did not get better and wasted many precious years. The psychiatrist I saw 9 years ago after my mom's death, I saw recently ONLY because I was so depressed and devastated at what this phobia had done to me. In fact I mentioned the phobia in passing and he said "Oh, I've treated patients successfullty with meds and counseling". WHAT??? All these years I could have seen him and I didn't. He was the only one out of 5 professionals I saw in the last 2 1/2 years that even had patients with this specific phobia! I feel like the fire truck has arrived at my house after my house burned down. :x

Also I read an interesting book called Phobia Free: Medical Breakthrough Linking 90% of all Phobias and Panic Attack to a Hidden Physical Problem by: Harold N. Levinson

It links choking phobia (and others) with the posibillity of an inner ear disorder. It's worth a read.
