Depression and Fast Foods
The one thing about depression is it's a spell that's easy to fall victim to even if you don't really know the reason for being depressed.
I've personally suffered from depression a few times in my life but usually due to a set of circumstances:
...which of course is perfectly normal. Many however, suffer from prolonged depression while others suffer from depression with no idea as to why. One of the most important things you can do when suffering from depression is to TRY and get to the source of it. If there is no good reason for your depression, it is not a bad idea to examine diet. I know it sounds odd but you are what you eat and you're food intake can greatly influence your mood: http://www.naturalnews.com/031146_trans_...ssion.html http://www.thatsfit.com/2009/11/03/fast-...epression/ http://www.suite101.com/content/depressi...ood-a28660 If you really want to get to the bottom of your depression, one thing you can certainly try is examining your diet; it can work wonders and may be the source of your seemingly sourceless depression. Things that mask your anxiety or make you feel numb never really solve the problem because they only treat the symptom rather than the cause. I used to drink a lot of soda and would feel constantly tired. I then experimented with cutting out soda almost completely (just treating it like a dessert at the end of the day). I felt so much more energized and happier. It made a huge difference. |

RE: Depression and Fast Foods
I recently read a book that helped me a lot with my depression. I think the main point of it was really helpful. That the sufferer should first and foremost seek help and then take an active approach to make sure that they are healing along with finding a partner to help them on their journey. Also, it kind of opened my eyes to the different foods that can really worsen people's depression because of the different chemicals in the foods and how they can affect you. I know it doesn't seem like it but what I've discovered is that the little things all add up and can have a big impact on the way you feel. Feel better! The name of the book was 'you can cure your depression' by the way.
