Do you find it easy to tell people about your phobia?
Do you find it easy to tell people about your phobia? Is it easy to tell friends but not family or maybe the other way around? How is it for you?

Re: Do you find it easy to tell people about your phobia?
I find it hard to tell anyone.
My friends know very little about my situation and that probably wont change. Most of my family only knows the basics. 'Shoot for the moon and if you miss you will still be among the stars' - Les Brown 'No one can make you feel inferior without your consent' - Eleanor Roosevelt |

I usually lie and tell people I am just a bit shy, very few people know that I suffer from Social Phobia. ssad
Why do dogs bark? They are not barking, they are talking in dog. Obviously you don't understand the language. |

I can't tell anyone. Hell, nobody wants to know anyway, so that works out.

I don't find it that challenging. I am mostly recovered and my phobia isn't very embarrassing. I was given a less hilarious fear - vomiting.

Re: Do you find it easy to tell people about your phobia?
Here's the sequence of events that transpire about me sharing my phobia.{Social Phobia/ Everything medical phobia}
I find it really easy to tell people about my phobias. Yes I do think it is funny that I can have social phobia, but at the same time feel very comfortable telling people about it lollll HOWEVER I always get aggravated at what they say after I tell them what my phobia is. They always give nonsensical advice such as: "DON'T THINK ABOUT IT!" Ummm.....When people say that, that means they don't even know what the word phobia means. A phobia is always associated with thinking about something lolll So it is easy for me to tell people about my phobias but difficult to listen to the "advice" they have to offer. Also, I'd like to extend a hearty welcome to Lotus!!!!! |

Re: Do you find it easy to tell people about your phobia?
^ Ah that's so true. :laugh: I never know whether to laugh or be angry. It's like when people say ''There's no need to be scared'' or ''just distract yourself''.

Re: Do you find it easy to tell people about your phobia?
I rarely tell anyone unless it's unavoidable. It isn't that nobody's interested inasmuch as I just don't feel like broadcasting something I am annoyed that I still have. Plus, then you get all the obvious "advice." "Just try not to think about it" is what I hear the most if I mention any phobias. Yeah, can someone just hit the OFF switch? Gee, thanks.
