Does anyone know of a phobia expert in Sydney Australia?
Hi All,

I've been searching around like crazy looking all over the internet to find a phobia expert here in Sydney and so far no luck. I don't know if anyone will be able to help me here but it's worth a shot.

Thanks,
Destiny.

Hi Destiny,

I'm further north and can't vouch for anyone in Sydney. However, the APS (Australian Psychological Society) has a search tool at :
http://www.psychology.org.au/FindaPsycho...e=Advanced

It's fairly comprehensive in selection criteria; eg type of issue (ie it lists "anxiety & phobia" as a specific choice); gender of therapist; available hours; proximity to chosen area; type of therapy preferred (eg CBT, narrative, Gestalt, etc) which is useful if you know what does/doesn't work for you.

I did a quick general search and several names came up as in the Sydney area. It also filters those who supply on medicare cover too.

Hope this helps

Hi Mr Ian,

Thanks for that will definately look it up tomorrow it's 1.18am here I still can't sleep and the cramp issue started three weeks after my daughter was born, I saw my Lupus doc and he said it wasn't lupus related but anxiety related about six months later I couldn't take it anymore my toes would constantly cramp every half an hour so I ended up in hospital and rehab for six weeks with little results. I've had counselling, tried hypnotherapy,CBT,EFT and acupuncture none of which worked. They can't give you anything for cramps either because quinine was what they used and someone died from it so it's off the market now, I'm just trying to get my life back to normal. The two major issues that I want resolved are the walking or lack of walking and the agorophobia.

Hi Destiny how did you get on trying to find a phobia expert? How are things going in general with your cramps? I hope everything is ok with you.

Hi John,

No luck so far, and my phobias are driving me absolutely mad. I haven't had a cramp in a couple of weeks now thank goodness but then again haven't really done a whole heap of walking trying to walk but still rather difficult.

Destiny.
