Has anyone had any experience with this?

We do have information relating to it here if you're interested in reading about it.

My psychologist told me she's going to try this one on me, so I better read that!!

But "officially" I'm on CBT.

Thank you!!! Bye Wave

Hi crystal-doll Big Grin

When is she planning on trying EMDR on you? It will be very interesting to hear your thoughts about it. Good luck.

Hi Jonnyjonny_uk !! Wave

Well actually she's planning to try it on me next week. I'll keep you posted!

But for what I've read so far it's going to make me cry  I don't know if I want to dig out my past, I'd rather leave it there in the past where it belongs. ssad

I don't want to cry over things that I've already cryed for.

it’s no use crying over spilt milk, you know what I mean? But we'll see what happens.
Bye Wave

Re: EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming
EMDR stands for eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. It is a novel approach to treatment that was developed recently. There is some evidence that it may be useful for PTSD like problems but not much that suggests it is good for anything else although the people who push it will tell you it works for everything. What is clear is that the theory used to explain it doesn't make sense and the eye movements have nothing to do with the effect. I am a psychologist trained in EMDR but I don't use it because there is evidence that traditional CBT is probably better.

I am a psychologist who specializes in treatment of anxiety disorders especially OCD, BDD and related problems.

Well it's been a while!!! =D
I'll tell you my experience with EMDR:
my psychologist for example told me to think of something good that happened to me and then she touched me on the shoulders several times, very weird, actually sconfused I kept thinking that she tried to put a spell on me hahaha

Or for example she told me to think of a nice place where I feel relaxed, so I opened my eyes and told her; after that I had to put a name to that place to use it in moments of fear or desperation, I named it "Free Time" then she moved her fingers from left to right several times (I had to follow the movement with my eyes)

but to be honest I don't think this is going to work for me, I feel no difference whatsoever... Sad
I feel like I've already done everything I can to get better and there no more I can do... I’m stuck in the same place.... Sad

It does sound a little unnerving but I'm sure she knew what she was doing.

That's a shame it didn't seem to work for you but how did it go with the CBT you was on? I think you was having CBT wasn't you?

^^ Yeah I'm still on CBT but sometimes I think that I've improved all I could and there's nothing else for me...
