Fear of Incohererent Rambling...
I would like to start by thanking Bjo for inspiring this thread. ssmile

Tonight a young woman Bjo, 24, shared her story and once again some of us, okay me, were put to shame. So here is a thread for anyone with a fear of rambling to post in safety. _cheesygrin::

As some of you know I suffer from Social Phobia (SP) that after spending years looking for treatment I final got under control only to have a partial relapse eight months after I split up with my partner.

The reason I have started this thread is not because I have a fear of posting, but rather a fear that I am rambling incoherently. How is it possible to go from a sloppy writer (although I can actually write concisely if needs must.) to someone who fears they have lost the ability to make sense? This is called a Negative Automatic Thought (NAT) It pops in to ones mind and if we listen to it without challenge it will be joined by others until our thoughts are that jam packed with negativity it triggers a physiological response which we experience as serve anxiety. As I have said before; there is no direct pathway between thought and emotion, we think therefore we think, nothing more.

Why do dogs bark?

They are not barking, they are talking in dog. Obviously you don't understand the language.

Re: Fear of Incohererent Rambling...
I have a fear of rambling.
I always worry if I'm boring people by talking or just going on and on with what I'm talking about. It's alot harder face to face with someone but on the internet it isn't so bad.

You're welcome Big Grin

(I have actually just previewed my short utterance above no less than 3 times in order to check whether or not it makes sense  and now I am going to have to double check this sub-message as well - sigh - )

I think it is ridiculous that anyone would obsessively edit their posts!!!!!

{Wait......does editing posts from two months ago, and being someone that has deleted 5 pages that he wrote for the board classify me as a person who fears being a rambler? ;]

{Awww man...I know I could have said this in so many fewer words!!!! This post is subject to change!}

I have that one too. I think I would see their eyes glazing over if I actually made eye contact that is.

I obsessively worry about/edit posts.
I have fear of being judged... thus, I do all in my power to prevent people from having things to judge me negatively about.
Though, on this forum I'm not too bad. I guess I feel comfortable with the members.

Well that is a good question...
I do worry more about making sense and so on when I am writing in English simply because it is not my first language and because I often fall short of finding words to express what I really want to...that means that I often need to simplify my initial intended utterance in order to be able to communicate my meaning.
In Danish I don't have to worry about that...but then there are other worries (aren't there always? :lolSmile. In Danish forums there is a bigger risk that someone I know (and fear) will sit and read and judge me etc. The thought of that terrifies me...also there are bigger expectations that my language is perfect and coherent...
I don't really know which is worse. Are you a native speaker Shy guy? (of English I mean?)

Yes I am a native speaker and I am ashamed to say your posts are clearer than mine most of the time.

I can understand you fear of posting on the Danish boards and of course I have my own selfish reasons for wanting to keep you here. (I cannot read Danish and I enjoy your company. Oops ) so with that in mind, I say you should stay here with us on Ofear!. =D

 I am staying, I hope. And you could probably understand a bit of Danish if you needed to...it is not that different from English. Some of your words come from us anyway.
