Re: How has it affected you?
i am terrified of heights! it has stopped me doing a lot when i think about it! i hate fair rides like rollercoasters etc. so i always sit on the side feeling bored. i avoid lifts. i always take the stairs which takes longer! i havent been in a lift since i was about 7!!! im 19 now! ive been in a plane once and NEVER again! i was terrified! i hardly looked out the window. and all i could think was its going to crash (i think i was about 8 or 9) and i couldnt wait to land. but thereare so many places i would love to visit and so many holidays ive missed out on T_T it sucks! when i was at school our building was 3 stories high and when i had lessons on the top floor i never looked out the windows. it scared me. the building was pretty old and i feared it falling down?! there were balconys to look out by the windows and other kids would mess about on them and throw things out the window and i would stay as far away as i could! and going down the stairs i held on to the rail, fearing i would fall and fearing someone might push me or something. i dont know why i am scared of heights! i hate bridges too! especially ones with water underneath! we were stuck on a bridge in a traffic jam for over an hour a while ago and i had a massive panic attack, it was awful! there was no way out we were stuck in the middle of this bridge surrounded by cars! and whatever to get to where we were going you have to cross the bridge! then i was thinking we have to go back over there later to get back home, i just couldnt enjoy the day out! i get bad dreams too. about bridges and heights. when i was at college i had to take the bus and we would go over one bridge twice a day - to get there and to get home - and i would be so scared every day. and i would get dreams of the bus going off the bridge or the bridge collapsing! they scared me a lot and only made my anxiety and fear much worse! i feel much safer on the ground . i remember looking up to the sky when i was young and feeling sick >.< but i really dont know why i fear heights. i cant think of anything that happened that would make me be scared of it?! i now avoid any situation involving heighs, planes, lifts, bridges etc as much as i can. and now even buses thanks to my dreams! i would rather walk ^_^ and i hate the top story of car parks. when u stand on the top and theres not much of a wall around i feel dizzy and think im going to fall! and they are so old i think they might just collapse or something. but when theres nowhere else to park what can you do?! !_! theres probably so much more but i cant think of anything else right now! but it does stop me from doing a lot! the main thing i would love to go on holiday T_T

I've in recent years have slept on the Top bunk, now that doesn't scare its just if its higher then that I am scared. Like at the Mall, they have those glass edges i can't stand to go near them. If i look over the edge, I freak out. One time while in New Mexico we took a Tram up into the Mountains, and i was so scared we where around close to 4,789 Feet in the Air, and i almost lost my cool. The really scary thing is I heard that People have Actually Almost Fallen, and down on the Mountains (Not where we where) there where wild Bears, etc. So thats just to show how terrified of highs i am.

Retro - to simply mean “old fashioned” or old.

With Me certen Heights are okay, Last Summer I Went To Mizen Head ( Im Irish BTW ) With My Family... And I Was Walking As Far Away From The Edge As I Could Get And I Think My Dad Had A Few Bruises On His Arm From Me Holding On So Tight...lol... In One Area There Is This Old Light House Which Has Been Made Into A bit of a Museum And Its Across A Really Old Looking Bridge ( Which At The Time Happened To Be Surounded by scaffolding ) and the bridge is between 2 cliffs... anyway... my family Wanted to go accross to the light house but i just took one look at the bridge and started balling my eyes out and shaking...I was TERRIFIED.... I Finally made it accross, but that was possibly becouse my dad said he would walk behind me ( he also gave me 1 euro...lol.. )
