Monsters in water
So I am brand new to this site but I have a strange fear that has been getting worse lately. I guess it is basically described as fear of sea monsters but the thing is I am never in the sea. I live in Ohio and I tend to get this overwhelming anxiety if for example I am in a pool by myself. I feel like if I have my back to the water Something, be it a shark or something the doesn't even exist, will attack me. But the particularly impairing part is I get it terribly when in the shower as well. Like I feel that the shower floor will give out and i will just fall into this watery abyss of things that want to kill me. Am I alone? And does anyone have any advice on what I can do?

RE: Monsters in water
I used to get paranoid that someone was going to pull back the shower curtain and attack me or something would crawl out of the drain....but that was due to way tooooo many horror movies.
The ground under your shower should not give way...you must train your logical part of your brain to take over when you get distorted thoughts like that. Also Sharks and "sea monsters" cannot survive in the kind of water that is in pools the chemicals would kill it. |

RE: Monsters in water
I also have that fear of water... or more specifically that there's something! But on summer time I go by the lake and on the beach a lot and if I start to think about how big fishes there could be.. ugh!! I always begin to estimate how deep the lake/sea is and how big horrible things there could be! Same thing with bigger, deep pools.
But I've never had that in the shower or even in the bath tub. So good luck to ya, hope it gets better! ![]() |
