Over coming phobias
Anyone had a phobia and it just disappear over time?

I've had 2 1st has a reason behind it the 2nd no reason.

1st is horses. When I was little my nan and grandad took me walks round allotments and fields so we saw quite a few horses and once I was stroking 1 and it tried to bite me. That made me a bit scared of them and when it happened with same horse a 2nd time it made it worse. I just wouldn't stroke or touch them, I was never terrified of them just wary round them and liked a gap between me and them or preferably a fence. I really wanted to overcome this fear of horses so wanted to get as close as I dared. Once with a mate out walking we got to a field with horses in, my friend fed grass to them which made me want to. I didn't want to look stupid being scared for no reason. So I fed them long grass so my hand didn't have to get near their mouths. We also kept going in the field with them when they weren't near. Since then I've been much more relaxed round horses and even fed some out of my hand. I wouldn't say I'm 100% comfortable getting really close to big ones but its not noticable now.

2nd is fear of dying. When I was little I'd worry that my mum or someone I loved may of died while I wasn't with them. When I went to bed I'd want to know what my mum was doing before she went bed and what time she would be in bed and I'd panic if she wasn't in bed by the time she'd said. I'd go to the toilet just so I could check she was still alive. Eventually that faded away but in its place was the fear that I'd die when I was asleep or something. Knowing one day I would die terrified me. I think its the not knowing what happens when you die that scared me most. I don't remember how this fear went but it went when I was about 8 or 9 I think. I'm still not totally over it I dread the day I die and really hope it just happens without any warning because I know I'd be terrified knowing it was coming soon. But I can get on with life more now and I am interested what happens after death so that is how I'll try to think of it. When my time comes I'll find out what happens. It can't be as bad as worrying over it is surely.

RE: Over coming phobias
There are many kind of phobia that can be overcome very easily.
The most common is fear of dying which can be overcome by
strong beliefs and opinions and spend life in right way as it will
granted good treatment after death.
