Hi Guys,
I came to the forum today to find out if anyone has a similar phobia to me. At first, I was terrified of snakes - I couldn't look at photographs let alone be exposed to one. However, as time has gone on, the phobia has escalated and I now feel the same way about worms, slugs, snails, noodles, spaghetti, and even play-doh. I check the path every morning in case there are slugs or worms on the ground, and constantly check my shoes in case they get in. (I have even taken my shoes off in public.) I struggle to walk past them alone and avoid grassy or muddy areas. I find it difficult to look at people eating noodles or spaghetti (as, in my head, they are eating worms). I cannot find a word which relates to a phobia of anything snake-shaped, maybe you guys can help? The closest I have found is Ophidiophobia (Fear of snakes). Maybe some of you are going through the same thing? Please help. Emma |

RE: Phobia of ANYTHING snake shaped!
Mmhh.....Do you know when it started or was there a specific event that may have started it off?
Out of interest, what country are you in? Im asking merely so i know if its one of the countries (like mine) where bumping into a snake is a very real possibility. Lifesupporters.com: Peer support. Self Hypnosis mp3 Downloads - Learn to relax, ease your fears and improve self esteem. |

RE: Phobia of ANYTHING snake shaped!
There have been a few things which I think may have influenced it. I had a hallucination when I was very young when I thought there were snakes in my hair. Then at high school, a teacher pretended to drop a box of worms on me
I'm in Scotland by the way, so I'm not very likely to see a snake, but there are a lot of slugs and worms on the paths which I find difficult to deal with. Emma x |
