Post something interesting about your country.
Yeah, what the subject title says! Something interesting, or random, or odd about your country!
...or city ...or state ...or yeah, about the place you live in. ![]() Sweden: If you order a pizza in Sweden, it always comes together with a salad which we simply call "pizza salad". It's a simple salad which consists of cabbage, oil, peppers, and vinegar (technically it's a special kind of vinegar which we call ättika). Swedes won't eat pizza unless it comes with this salad; it just wouldn't be pizza.

RE: Post something interesting about your country.
Interesting thread. I do find it difficult though because I have not traveled enough to know what is different comparatively.
![]() I think its interesting that in all the "ghetto" cities around here all the boys have their pants hanging down under their butt. ( ) yet also a huge number of homophobic people in the area. The interesting part is the 'trend' came from prison boys and the pants hanging down was to show that they were 'available'.

Yeah, a lot of kids do that here too.
![]() I didn't know that's how the trend got started. That's ...interesting. ![]() Random fact about Sweden... I can't come up with anything interesting. Uh... whenever one of our actors move to Hollywood, people make a HUGE deal of it. They might just have played a tiny weeny role in a movie, but magazines will act as if the actor is world famous. One of the most popular actors in the world! He'll surely get an Oscar very very soon. ![]() I think Sweden has an inferiority complex.

Our inferiority complex feeds your ego issue, which feeds our inferiority complex, which feeds your ego issue, which feeds our inferiority complex, which feeds your ego issue, which...!
![]() I don't know if I had a point to that. I just wanted to say it over and over again. ![]() Wait, vicious circle! That's what I was getting at. ![]() Random thing about Sweden: we say an evil circle, or a bad circle, not a vicious one. ![]() And instead of "four eyes" we call people who wear glasses "glasses worm"! ![]() Oh, and another thing about Sweden! One that annoys me! ![]() Compound words are pretty much always written as a single word. While they're mostly written separately in English. A food store is a foodstore in Swedish, and a birthday cake is a birthdaycake. ![]() ...then again, at least we're consistent. There aren't any actual rules when it comes to compound words in English.

As for something interesting about Canada... I have to think about that. Which is horrible. Ok, well, I don't know how interesting this is but our road signs, etc are all in French and English. Half the time there's two signs, one in English and one in French. Or one sign with both languages. I bet that's the case in other countries too! Canada is boring! Only cuz its rather similar to its southern country. ![]() I know we have some parts where we will do the same thing with multiple signs for english and spanish. What gets me though, is even though the only official language here is english there are areas that don't have english signs and places that don't understand/speak english. I understand Mexicans coming over. It does not bother me at all. However I do believe they should learn the AMERICAN language. Which in a way sounds bad. But at the same time if I went down to Mexico I would be expected to speak spanish. ~Knowledge is the enemy of faith~

India: well we have beautiful weather, delicious food and a long rich history. One cool thing is, that because of all the religions here, school kids get days off of school for all Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian holidays! So 3/4 times, it is not your holiday, but you still don't have school, lol

Hi deepali!
![]() UK - most of the written media here are very eurosceptic. I'm sure if they had their way, that they would try and physically tow the UK to be as far from mainland Europe as possible! I don't think that's ever going to happen somehow though, even when taking into consideration the geological processes of continental drift!
