If there is such a thing as a "worst essay ever written" prize, I surely deserve it for my linguistics essay. It's embarrassing. I'm usually not too fond of my own writing, but this is a new low even for me.Laughing6

I AM SO SICK OF MY CRAZY TEACHER! He assigns WAY more work then he should, and the homework isn't like normal homework-instead you have to do it all on an external site and get graded on it yet half the questions are trick questions. In my opinion trick questions are BS anyways, because they are designed to have you get the answer wrong and have nothing to do with fully understanding the material or not. I CAN NOT WAIT until I am done with this class! I am about half way through so I am getting there. I am just not sure the kind of shape my grade will be in when I am finished though. I will be very happy with a 3.0 but we will see. *fingers crossed*. it just sucks because I know if it was any regular class my grade would be fine but this teach is NUTS!

The odd trick questions is to be expected but that's odd that the teacher'd incorporate that many trick questions. :/ They're called trick questions for a reason after all. Most students trip up on them.

I hope you're able to get a grade you're comfortable with Slaka. Hopefully this teacher's teaching style doesn't effect your grade too much in the long run.

It already has a bit. Typically i get 3.5 to 4.0 if I apply myself and do everything. (sometimes I don't. Sad ) But I have this class and i really think I will be lucky with a 3.0. But I would still be happy with that. I think all I need really is to gt a 2.0 for it to still count for me at work. lol.

This maths book is a disaster!Scared
They should really double and triple check school books, especially when it comes to maths, before they publish them. I was tryign to solve a problem yesterday. I thought I got it right, I checked the key in the back of the book, and it was wrong. I sat there for maybe 45 minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong until I gave up. When I got to school I asked the teacher, and yes, of course, the key in the book got it wrong.Cool
What a waste of time!Laughing6

And now I'm in the same situation again, with a really simple problem this time. Either my maths skills are much MUCH worse than I thought, or the book must be wrong.005_ssleepy

Yep yep, and I'm officially screwed. Excuse my French.Blob5

I just talked to a study councillor type of person, about my grades. I didn't get the best grades back in high school, which is why I'm trying to make up for that in adult school right now. Anyway, I thought the grades I'm getting now would count for something, but apparently they don't. I've been wasting my time pretty much. The way we count grades in Sweden is that we multiply the grade we got in a in a course with the amount of hours the course took to finish, and then add all these numbers. We then divide the big number with the amount of hours we've studied in total. The number we're left with is what we use go get into university. Okay, and therein lies the problem. If you divide all your grades with the amount of hours you've studied, the more courses you study ...the smaller the resulting number will be. The more you study, the less the new courses will affect your average grade.

Here, in order to graduate high school, you need to have studied 2500 hours worth of high school courses. Which I did. I thought that maybe, just maaaybe, I would be able to remove some of my past courses that I don't need, and exchange them with my new courses. I would still have 2500 hours worth of courses, but they would be worth much more. Apparently that's not possible though. So all my courses count. My old average grade was 12ish, which is pretty bad seeing as you need at least 17 to get into an okay university program. Exchanging my old courses, I would end up with an average of 18, which is pretty good - ish. I mean, it would be good enough to be able to make something of myself. However, if we count ALL the courses I've taken, my average only reaches 14. And no matter how many courses I take now, I'll have trouble getting an average of over 15. They just don't make a difference anymore. It doesn't matter if I get a F or a A+, they don't make one bit of difference.

I realise all that sounds very complicated, but what it all comes down to is: I'm screwed. Being a screw-up in high school will make me into a screw-up for life. It doesn't matter that I've proved myself afterwards, I've been labelled a screw-up. Those labels don't come off.Cool
And, in practice, what does this mean? I get to give up! I officially get to give up. Hurray!005_shappy
McDonalds, here I come!

I've written a very angry email to the school ...board ...thingy. I don't know what to call it. The people who handle all this. I'm that'll make abig difference. They'll care. Yes they will. Totally.Cool

I'm starting to hate the school system in Sweden. We want to give out the impression that we're the most just and friendly country in the world. In Sweden everything is possible. Health care is free. Schools are free! I'd say Sweden has a few things to work on before proclaiming itself the best nation in the world. Giving people second chances should be a given. But no, either do well when you're a teenager, hell you need to do well when you're 10, or you'll regret it for the rest of your life. If you're bullied or have other issues that affect your grades, that's your problem. All hail Sweden!Cool

And yes, in case you're wondering, I'm frustrated. Does it show?005_ssleepy005_ssleepy005_ssleepy

Hey Little MateSmile

Im sorry this as happened, i can see how its all calculated but what a crock of garbage that looks like.

Dont you worry about being a failure because you certainly arent. They may not give you the marks to enter into Uni but there are still many ways that you can advance yourself.Sure, it wont be easy but nothing ever is.

I can imagine how pissed you are but try and stay cool, sit back and explore what options we have now and im sure there will be a way around it.

Remain proud of what you have achieved....it was Harold that got that A+ only a short time ago Smile They can take things like that away from youSmile

Thanks Snooks.Cool

I'm just a little frustrated. Things aren't really going my things lately and I feel stuck. But things usually work themselves out one way or another.Blob5
