RE: Rant about - Self
Why do i let myself get sucked in to what is a stupid, dangerous and blatantly foolish job?

920 miles round journey stopping at 16 towns for deliveries. Theres gotta be a better and safer way of making a living than doing suicidal 14hr shifts in a truck.

Im annoyed at me for accepting the jobSad

I believe because you want to provide the best for your family, and will do so no matter how hard it is on you personally. You are a very kind, loving family man.Smile

14 hour shifts?! Scared

You must feel like a zombie when you get home! 005_sconfused

Do you end up drinking much coffee/ caffeine?

I probably torture my body with as many as 10 cups of nice, strong coffee, per day. Smile

It surely helps to keep you awake but i like it and thats the main reason i drink itSmile

This reply is super late but... don't they have laws there limiting truck drivers to how many hours they can work within a 24 hr period Snooks? I'm just asking because my Dad drives for a living as well and I know here they are limited to how many hours they can be on the road. They can't really break those laws either because they have so much paper work to do (so everything's recorded, etc.).

And, my rant! I don't know whether it's lack of sleep or what but I really can't talk lately. I just keep tripping over my words. It was painful yesterday. My co-worker just kept saying "you really need a day off". Laughing6

Maybe it's just lack of sleep. 005_sconfused I was thinking that it's anxiety related but it's happening even in comfortable situations, with people I'm comfortable with. So, yeah.

I'm not sure whether it's better to be sick on your days off or sick while at work (that way you don't waste your days off). 005_ssleepy Either way, I hope I'm feeling better tomorrow. I have a really early shift and... I'd rather not have to drag myself out of bed and off to work.

Stupid stomach.

Oh it's definitely better to be sick while at work - days off are far too precious and sparse to be lost to some silly illness! 005_sbiggrin

The Traffic Diary is simply a paper method and is full of loose ends....they are very easy to manipulate and given preassure by your Boss to retain your job, then sometimes you do stupid thingsSad

That's very good to hear Snooks. Cool

Out of interest, what's the unemployment rate like in Australia? A problem, just like everywhere else? 005_sconfused
