RE: Señor Haroldo
Here's a dumb question but, what's a birthday club?
![]() I can't say I'm a big fan of celebrating birthdays, especially my own. If I had a say in it, my birthday would have been completely ignored by everyone I know, me included.

Three of us girls started celebrating each other's birthdays by going out to lunch or dinner, putting $5.00 in a birthday card which we signed. As the years went by, more girls joined. The sad part of it all was some trouble started to brew and they all ended it. I left before that even became an issue because I sensed that some of the women just weren't too happy with each other and the get-togethers ended up in some 'barbs' instead of good, clean laughter and fun, of which I am a huge proponent of. Somehow we have to change that for you, Harold! You see, every person who has a birthday should be honoured by others because he/she was born and is a Gift to the world, bringing one's own talents, too.

Evil beings don't get along very well. ![]() Is that a valid theory? ![]() Another female stereotype, which probably plays a role in why women don't get along too well, is the act of gossiping. Seems to be another true stereotype. All my co-workers at the animal shelter are female, so I get a window into female group dynamics there. The minute one co-worker is absent, the others are saying something behind her back. Not necessarily anything very bad, but they do criticize each other a lot. I think you're right about that. Sadly, with my social skills, I give them a lot to talk about too. ![]() Maybe I should do what George in Seinfeld did. When he thought that some people were talking behind his back he "accidentally" forgot a briefcase containing a microphone in the room to record what they said about him. It's a solid plan. RE: Señor Haroldo
I'm incredibly bored, so I'll just write down some random thoughts here.
![]() Random thought #1: The fact that people can be so cruel never ceases to amaze me. This woman came to visit a cat at the cat shelter last week. The cat is only 7 months old, a lovely lil guy, but she had decided to take him to the vet and put him to sleep. It was the vet who phoned the shelter and asked if they could take the cat because he didn't think it right to him to sleep for no good reason at all. Why did she want to put the cat to sleep? She had "found the love of her life!" and was oh so in love with him, but, alas, he didn't like cats. So, what other solution was there but to murder the cat? Apparently she wasn't even ashamed of it. She told the woman who runs the shelter, a woman who devotes her life to save homeless and mistreated cats, that she wanted to put the cat to sleep simply because "the love of her life" didn't want to have anything to do with it. I actually talked to her too, before knowing why she was there. I just assumed that she had found the cat somewhere and brought it to the shelter. I wouldn't have said a word to her, not a kind one anyway, if I had known why she was there. She confused me though, because my initial impression of her was that she loved cats. She was telling me what great work we do at the shelter, that we were amazing for helping all those "poor homeless cats, they're oh so lucky to have you". How can you just kill a young healthy cat for no good reason, and still act as if you feel sorry for "all the homeless cats" at the shelter? Doesn't she realise that it's because of people like her that the shelter is so full of mistreated cats? Bleh. Stupid woman. I must say, I have all the respect in the world for the woman who runs that place. She's the one who has to deal with all these idiotic people, and she has to smile and act all nice to them. I've heard her tell so many stories, and I just don't know how she does it. I don't think I would have been able to resist punching some of the people she has had to deal with. ![]() Random thought #2! ...I want to walk "El Camino de Santiago"! ![]() I've been talking about it for years, but I've never had the guts to actually do it. The thing is that I'd have to do it alone. I don't know many people, and the ones I know would not like to do something like this. And ...the idea of doing something like this completely alone is a little daunting. Well, it's more than a little daunting. I feel that it's something I have to do though, for a number of reasons. I have the money for it (it's not precisely an expensive trip) and I most certainly have the time to do it at the moment. So I'm seriously considering it. If I do it, I'll do it later this spring, possibly at the beginning of summer, so I have time to make plans. I hope I go through with it though. I think a trip like this would do me some good. ...Does anyone feel like joining me? Eh? Eh? Come on, you know you want to! ![]() Random thought #3! ...my cat doesn't let me sleep at night! He wakes me up at 6 EVERY morning. And the thing is that I go to bed at 3. So I get about 3 hours of sleep every night. Once he wakes me I can't go back to sleep. So I'm a little spaced out at the moment. The only thing that keeps me going at the moment is coffee and ice cream. ![]() Random thought #4 - I wonder if ice cream would be good in my coffee? *tries it* ...Nope. Not a fan. ![]() And that's all for now! ![]() I don't remember what I just wrote. ![]() *posts it* I'd be a dog, a monkey or a bear, or anything but that vain animal, who is so proud of being rational.

RE: Señor Haroldo
I find it so sad/ it gets me so angry how some people simply view their pets as disposable possessions.
It's just beyond belief. ![]() I have total respect for any pet shops/ animal shelters who vet potential owners before giving animals away. Sadly in the UK, there just aren't enough of them. Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. Dr Seuss Courage does not always roar. RE: Señor Haroldo
Yep, some people seem completely devoid of any form of empathy. If they have this little empathy for animals, something tells me they don't feel much more for other people either. Freakin' psychopaths.
![]() I mean, how can you dump a bunch of kittens in a box, outdoors, when it's -10° C? That's just what someone did the other day at the shelter. Someone capable of that should be locked up somewhere if you ask me. I wouldn't trust that person among other living beings.

I totally agree! I have no idea what's wrong with people nowadays, but it's a sure thing they're lacking any form of empathy!
I mean come on, how can people like that exist when people like my parents prefer our pekingese dog over me.. Karma |
