The Golden Compass
Has anyone read this? I heard its anti-Catholic...
I'm near the end, and there was only a slight mention of the church being in control.
I think its an excellent book, although I like Harry Potter more.

I've read it, it's a very good book. Wait until you get to the last book, theres a big battle against Heaven. Nice and anti-Catholic (well, anti-Christian I suppose) shappy

Hmm, sounds interesting, Barru 8)
I'm reading it to my daughter at the moment and we've just finished part one (Oxford). I think it's a really good book and I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would

Re: The Golden Compass
I loved the golden compass aka northern lights.

I do think that the church has too much control, and that they have way too much money. My church spent over one million reconstructing my local church, it was fine the way it was. Yes I am catholic and Christian, so now I am a bad person for thinking that right, I don't care.

Re: The Golden Compass
Sorry to bring up this topic again but! I have to say that I love them. I'm a Christian and I've seen people almost just not touch the book because it's Phillip Pullman (he's an extreme atheist). In my opinion it's a fantasy book that shouts loudly against the church. If American Christians are going to cause chaos because of harry potter. I pray to god that they didn't find this one...
