Exclamation what should i do about my fear of being reprimanded
I am a high school student who is terrified of getting into trouble. On Tuesday I forgot to go and see my history teacher about something when I said I would. Yesterday (Friday) she said she wasn't happy about it because she had waited. She said it in a completely normal voice yet I was was breathing really hard and nearly in tears for about 10 minutes (I think?)
I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since and I'm really scared and I don't know why. My teacher is really nice she never gives people detention and hardly ever tells them off. She's been teaching me for about 2 months. I can recognize this but I'm still really scared of her.
It's been 24 hours and I'm still really worried. Stuff like this has happened to me before. Is it normal?
I'm fine with most other social situations, I'm very confident with my peers, and the majority of adults (I'm an only child). But I'm terrified of people of authority telling me off.
This summer some of my family were saying I should get a job, I told that I wouldn't want to do paid work because I might spill soup or drop something etc. They all laughed and didn't take me seriously. I am looking for voluntary work now though, I'll feel more comfortable with that.
I really don't know what to do about it. I can't go though my life without being able to take criticism. I'm also really freaked out about being freaked out, so I'm hardly helping myself. My Mum says to face my fear and go and talk to my teacher but I'm too scared, I really can't do it.
On NHS websites it says to contact your GP if you have a phobia. Is what I have a real phobia or just an ordinary fear. I don't want to waste anyone's time when others could have a more urgent problem. I also want to be calm if I realize I haven't done my homework the day before it's due. I am really confused and freaking out. Please help. Scared

You certainly wont be wasting anyones time by dropping in to see your GP. If something is causing you concern, then it needs rectifying.

Dont waste time worrying......a 10 minute meeting with your GP will offer some information on the best way to proceed Smile
